Following the 10:30 AM worship service, adults can gather for classes and discussions on various topics.  Most of the time there is no need to sign up in advance.  Simply show up!  Studies are usually part of a series lasting from 2-6 weeks.  They meet in the Kettlewell Room (located beneath the Guild Hall) and are led by clergy or guest teachers.  Recent topics included; studies of the Books of Job and Romans, The Gospel According to the U2, Brian McLaren’s book The Secret Message of Jesus, and the best-selling novel, The Shack book.  Visit the Events page to view current or upcoming offerings or contact Rev. Don Ashburn for more information.

Current Class: Helping Without Hurting - Continuing January 29th: In a powerful new book called, When Helping Hurts, Steve Corbett and Brian Fikkert write that even the most well-intentioned efforts to help the poor can do more harm than good. Starting with faulty assumptions about poverty, efforts at alleviating it often end by causing more suffering - both for those in need as well as those trying to help. So, Rev. Don Ashburn will lead a 3-week class based on the book. We will meet again on January 29 and February 5 in the Kettlewell Room at 11:30am - with additional meetings on March 4 & 11 in the CE Building Chapel. The class will appeal to anyone who has been involved in mission or charitable giving - with positive and/or negative experiences - as well as anyone who has a heart for those in need. You need not read the book to participate. For more information, or to order a copy of the book (by January 15th for $10) you can contact Rev. Ashburn at: don@piedmontchurch.org or 547-5700.
