
Before coming to PCC in 2001, Bill served as Senior Pastor to the 1000+ diverse members of Miami Shores Presbyterian Church in Florida. Prior to joining Miami Shores, he served as Senior Associate Pastor for 11 years at Brentwood Presbyterian in Los Angleles, as well as serving two other California churches. He received his undergraduate degree from Pepperdine University and holds a Master of Divinity degree from San Francisco Theological Seminary, where he received the Martin Kneeland Preaching Prize. In addition, he earned a doctorate in Education from Pepperdine.
Bill is an avid reader and excels at both youth and adult Christian education. He co-authored the book Teaching the Bible Creatively, a best-selling book on youth ministry. Humor and imaginative illustrations continue to be tools of choice when engaging his congregation. His broad theology allows him to embrace the diverse religious backgrounds at PCC.
Bill's commitment to international
mission outreach is especially evident in the sister church relationship initiated with Kafita church in Lilongwe, Malawi. In November of 2003, he led a group of 8 PCC members to Africa, touring well building projects, a mission run hosptial, and community based orphan care facilities in Malawi while building friendships with Kafita members. In spring of 2004, PCC hosted a reciprocal visit of Kafita church elders in Piedmont. "Dr. McNabb's involvment in the Pastors of Oakland organization also let to the formation of a sister church relaitonship with Imani Community Church in 2008.
Bill loves music, both liturgical and secular, and he enjoys playing bluegrass on guitar and banjo in his spare time. He and his wife, Maureen, are parents to two daughters, Mackenzie and Shelby. To relax, they enjoy boating, tennis, photography, cooking, and travel. Together they have traveled to 35 countries and five continents.
